爸爸上个月过世了，好伤心，因为一切都太突然了。。。
最伤心是没能见他最后一面，其实我只差几分钟就能见他最后一面，但偏偏却见不到。。。

不过看他在医院挣扎和在棺木里安详的睡着，心里莫名的觉得欣慰。。。

愿在天国的父亲能快乐的过着。。。。

爸爸，我好想念你。。。。谢谢你。。。

Just came back from a short trip in Penang... Food there was super cheap and I simply love this "sister char kueh teow"...

Went to places like Peranakan Mansion, Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi, Chocolate Mansion, Rising Buddha, etc. But Peranakan mansion really left a deep impression in me, u can never imagine how rich they are until u step into the mansion...

After weeks of preparation, the day for our company's community project has finally arrived! It's my first time to SBWR and I'm pretty excited about it, needless to say, the kids are even more excited... They 'wowed' the moment the bus arrived at the entrance where we can see our neighbourhood country. Really spent a meaningful Saturday accompanying the kids and capturing their happy moments. Oh no, just realised that I haven't been updating up my blog for ages! That's really bad of me... But I must really say I've been rather busy with both my hip hop dance class and photography course during weekends... Still in the midst of learning and it's been so enjoyable. Never been my life that I've felt so fulfilling because dancing and photography is something that I really love since teenage, especially photography. Well, because you never know when you are capturing the moment and every picture has a story to it, it makes photography something special for me.

Just took 300+ pictures yesterday for 2 models and given the fact that I'm just a beginner, I'm rather satisfied with it but of course, more to improve on... Looking forward to my next photography lesson because it's on night and daytime outdoor photography. Hopefully will post some beautiful pictures next weekend.

Yes! I've finally get my hands on this Nikon DSLR, I'm crazy about it right now!... I love to take pictures but seems that digital camera wasn't good enough for night scenes. I have a Canon SLR but has never learnt to use it fully, so now, I'm not gonna let my Nikon DSLR go into waste, I've signed for a workshop to learn more about this camera, after that, I would be taking up a photography course on DSLR! Looking forward to that... yippee!

Marina Bay Countdown 2008/2009

Went for the Marina countdown and it was simply fascinating for everyone for us. Watching the fireworks at the spectacular skyline was just great and you can hear lots of people whistling and shouting around! That was just GREAT! And I did something silly that nite at the MRT station, i actually took a pic beside Andy Lau's poster... Haha, it's something I would not do inside station but since there's not much people around at Marina Bay Station, I took the courage and snapped a pic on that, hee....

Fong Fei Fei World Tour 2008 - 27 Dec

I've never failed to attend Fong Fei Fei concerts - 2004, 2006 and 2008. She's simply fantastic and her vocal is still as good as before, needless to say about her figure, at the age of 55, it somehow is much better than those people at their 30s (including me), haha... She asked if we'll attend her concert in 2010 - and we shouted "yes", of course, I'll be there again, without fail...

I kinda lost my voice today, guess it's because I've shouted so much throughout the concert. But you know, it's all worth it because we've echoed twice and she sang three additional songs for that. It has never happened before in her two previous concerts, guess Singaporeans have more or less learnt to let their hair down during concerts, at least I can see and hear more audiences shouting/whistling now (but more rooms for improvement). I know the two ladies sitting infront of me are irritated by our shouting and whistling because she wanna video record the whole concert (she even commented we are very noisy and turned around and stared at us). But c'mon, this is a concert, shouting and whistling is part of the concert package (and it boost the singer's moral as well) and by the way, she's not supposed to video record, and I would advise her to buy the dvd concert instead of using her N95 to record the concert, can't see anything anyway.

Now I need to rest and take care of my voice, cuz two weeks from now, I'll be going for another concert, and fyi, I've bought a new whistle today (much more 'powerful' than the one I used yesterday). I'm all ready to shout again in two weeks time to come!

My White Christmas...

I've previously tried roller skating and roller bladding, but not for ice skating... This is something which I've always wanted to try it out since it was introduced in SG but has never gotten the chance to do so --- until yesterday. This Christmas was really enjoyable cuz it's really 'white' for me, trust me, the atmosphere is there and it's really like 'snowing' kinda feeling.

The fact that I've previously skate and blade before, it's much more easier for me to learn ice skating, but once again, it's not that tough actually, but I need to brush up on my braking skills. haha...

This will be a memorable x'mas for me, something really different in my life... It's my first time there and I'm sure it won't be the last, I'll be back again!

我并非他的疯狂歌迷,但却十分欣赏他那独特的歌声. 楊宗緯是唯一能让我听歌听得流泪的歌手. 看他参加超級星光大道演唱"新不了情", 我哭了... 看他在台湾的dvd concert演唱"回忆沙漠", 我也哭了.在昨晚的演唱会上,听他常"可惜不是你"和"领悟", 我又哭了... 他真的非常棒,唯有他有这样的魅力能深深的感动我.

不管所谓的是是非非,我欣赏的就是你的歌声及不放弃的精神! 楊宗緯 --- 我永远挺你! 期盼你再度来新开唱!!!

Concerts, concerts... and concerts!!

Hurray! I'll be watching concerts for the upcoming weekends, the first is Aska's Yang (this Sun), then it's Fong Fei Fei (next Sat), followed by Pan Meichen/Zhao Yong Hua's concert (10 Jan)... I love going to concerts but my life has not been so packed with so many of it within a month. Usually it's just one or two concerts per year but this year, I think it's about five!

I can't wait for this Sun to come, cuz I've been looking forward to watch Aska's live concert. He only contacted the local organizer to held this concert two weeks back and therefore, it's really really a surprise for me. I tot I would have to wait for at least next year for his concert, but I didn't expect that I can actually catch him live this Sunday! Of course, I must also thank Christian - the organizer of this concert. He actually make an effort to meet me up at Bugis Junction last Sat to pass me the concert tickets, really grateful about that. What really perk me up is that he told me I can take pictures during the concert, oh my god, it's so so wonderful!

As for Fong Fei Fei, I never failed to attend her concert in SG... She maintains her vocal well all these years and you know, listening her live is like listening to CD - it's the same!!

Pan Mei Chen - my idol since secondary school days and I'm still supporting her till now cuz she's really talented. Of cuz, I'm not as crazy as I would be during my school days but as long as she released an album, I'll get my hands on it.

You can't imagine how excited I'm now... I'm counting down now - not to Christmas but to Aska's concert.... haha.

It's been a busy and enjoyable weekend for me... Celebrated my grandniece's 1st birthday at Changi last nite and today, celebrated mum's birthday and went to the IT show at Expo Hall (super super crowded)...

Knowing that today's the last day of the IT show, both my niece and myself bargained with the sales person and finally, we managed to get a Morbella GPS at $335 (he quoted $360 at first), haha!

First time to jazz@Southbridge, fell in love with this place cuz it's cozy and relaxing... I'm not a jazz person but the performance is simple fantastic and I've really enjoyed alot... The pianist said we're a bunch of lucky audience becuz there is this harmonica player from Germany who happens to drop by the place and will be performing for us... He is Jens Bunge... Just in case you're wondering how we get to know him... that's because I've taken some pics during his performance and during the break, he has approached me to ask if I can email him the pictures...

Went trekking with a group of friends yesterday... Started off at Science ParK 1 and ended at Vivocity (took us about 4 hours to complete our journey)... Passed by alot of areas like Kent Ridge Park, Canopy Walk, Alexandra Arch, Henderson Waves, Mount Faber, etc. It's really fun and enjoyable.

Well, we've too much of the city life which is making everyone of us so intensed and that's why I think it will be great to spend some time to 'immerse' yourself in the nature as often as you can...

You've no idea how much I've enjoyed myself and I've taken about 150 pictures!!... Hope you'll enjoy viewing the pictures (i'll upload bit by bit)...

My dad's birthday falls on Vesak Day but we celebrated this joyous occasion on last Sunday. It's my dad's 88th Birthday (wow!)... My dad and mum went through a lot of hardship and it's really tough on them to bring up ten children (I'm the youngest) at that time, but then, I didn't really treasure them in my much younger days... I realised it's not easy on them to raise us and gave us the best that they can.

When I was in my teenage, I really didn't care much about my parents and sometimes, I really find them naggy and to certain extent, I would ask myself how come they can't provide me with much better things as compared to my peers, they're having such a good life but I'm not. My dad used to be a hawker and I've to start to help out at the stall as early as 5am on weekends during my primary to secondary school days. But as I slowly grew up, I appreciate the fact that I actually went through these hardship and I've learned so much more in life.

Few years back, my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer and when I went to hospital to visit him, the doctor told me he has only one more year left to live. My heart was crashed and I remembered calling my brother but I just kept crying and I simply can't talk over the phone. We decided not to let my dad knows about his condition and let him undergo the chemotherapy, we're so happy that my dad has fully recovered (even the doctor found it amazing) and he's living healthily until now. Although my dad was diagnosed with dementia last year (after a fall), we're still happy to have him here even though he can't recognise us some times. I still remembered last Sunday when we all gathered together and he kept asking who is this, who is that... He was so surprised and told us he didn't know he has so many children, he's really adorable... I guess my dad was considered as one of those fortunate family man, he's so many children who's still looking after him and he has... hmmm... 18 grandchildren and one great grandchildren.

If you happen to read my post, I really hope you're one of those who'll treasure the ones around you, if you're not, please start doing so. We've seen lots of cases where people regretted when their loved ones are no longer in this world, it'll really be too late by then.
Let's not look at the past or plan so much for the future, let's just treasure the ones around us --- NOW...

四川地震

前几天在报章读到一则新闻，说拯救行动的成功率将越来越小，几乎是零。听了好心寒，因为我们深深知道还有好多人还被埋在废堆里。不过今天新闻报道拯救队伍成功救出一名生还者，令我高兴又感动。试想想，五月十二日至今，已经八天了，能够生存下来，是多么不可思议的事。虽让希望越来越渺茫，但我祈祷下一刻仍会发生奇迹。

对于侥幸生存下来的生还者，或许身边的亲友已不再身旁，痛苦万分，但我希望他们能活得更坚强，。。。

活佛师尊said:
"When heaven reduces my fortune, I will respond to my loss by establishing greater virtues.
When heaven exhausts my heart, I shall return such fatigue, by bearing a carefree mind.
When heaven makes my fate difficult, I shall make it smoother by practising good deeds.

No matter what has happened in our life, we should cherish all the opportunities we are given to open up a new life. This is what is meant by establishing a true purpose in life.

Resignation

Heard from my supervisor that one of my colleague is tendering her resignation today. I was shocked to hear that and what 'shocked' me even further was that she actually told my big boss that she's quitting because she can no longer work under my big boss. She literally threw this reason in front of my big boss...

From my point of view, I just feel that she might be doing herself a great disfavor. My big boss only joined the company in Mar this year and it would be unfair to say she can no longer work with my big boss. Even if this is so, it might not be right for her to say that my big boss is the reason for he resignation. First of all, my big boss might not feel good (especially when she joined only less than 2 months), secondly, she's making herself having one more enemy than a friend. Singapore is such a small world, what if they end up in the same company again in future, ?? You'll never know...

Sometimes, we have to reflect on ourselves before we put the blame on others. People in today's society is so used to shifting blame on others and they've not reflected whether they've done any better.

There is this saying:
What we encounter is due to our own actions, we can blame neither heaven nor other people.

Life has changed for the better...

It's been weeks since I last posted on April... Somehow my life has changed for the better... All thanks to my friend, Kelvin... I've known him for about 20 years and for the past ten years, he has been devoting his time on 'Tao' (道）... On and off he'll come back to SG and that's when we'll meet up and catch up with each other. He has previously mentioned to me about 'Tao', and though I did believe in it, it didn't come to my mind that I'll spend my time in this aspect. Just weeks ago, he came back to SG again and during that point of time, I was troubled and feeling depressed over some personal matters and there's where he talked to me and advised me on alot of things. Somehow, I felt that what he said is really true and I decided to 'take up' 'Tao'.

I really feel that life has been much better and I'm now a much more happier person... Nothing in this world is destined, for a person is the one controlling your life and you're the owner to it.

I'll be creating a blog and hope I can post meaningful things which I've read in books or I've learned during my lessons.

It's not about Buddhism, Christianity, Confuscianism, Taoism or Muslim... For all five great religious are coming together as one...

Saw this advertisement few days back in a local magazine... Claimed that it's the world's smallest and slimmest stylish 10.1 Megapixel digital camera. That really left a deep impression in my mind, cuz was at the same time thinking of getting a camera to replace the current one which I'm using...

Finally bought it on Sunday! Amazing, it's really small and slim! And I love its functions sooooooooo muchie!

Now I guess it's a breeze to carry this camera with me whenever I'm going out...

不管是朋友，同事，爱人或家人，
我都从他们的身上学习到许多。

人与人之间的关系是可以很美丽，也是可以很丑陋的。
美丽与丑陋有时只在于一瞬间，
我当然希望我与他人之间的关系是可以保持得美丽，
但很多时候并非能如愿以偿。

不管如何，能够遇见是一种缘分，
朋友也好，同事也好，爱人或家人也好，

今天在报章读到了一篇关于职场成功者的文章。
其中一段写着：
“最优秀的员工常常是当别人还没想到的时候，你已经想到了。

当别人也做得不错的时候，你已经是最好了；
当别人跟你一样好时，你已经换跑道了”。

觉得写的非常有意思，也很有道理。
我相信如果你能够做的到这几点，

选择

半年前的我做了一个选择，
开始的时候，我非常得开心，
不过到现在，我开始怀疑自己的选择，

The weather's been cold lately and when I'm back in my office, I really feel like it's winter time, it's freezing me to almost death... I really don't understand why some companies need to blast the air-con (not that it's FOC and we are not saving the earth at all!) and it's really affecting our performance.. I can see my colleagues complaining and some just can't stop rubbing their hands (and yes, I'm one of them). Sometimes I really feel the urge to put on my scarf, gloves, long johns... but I can't imagine how would I be when I step out of the office --- probably end up with a heat stroke...

Just started my new job this week and what a rotten luck, I've not been feeling well since last Sat... Drag myself to work for the 1st three days but on Wednesday nite, I was feeling extremely weak and can't make it at all... Went to see a doc and my temperature was 39.2C!! Doc gave me 2 days MC but I only rested for one day and went back to work on Fri, after all, it's my new job and I dun really feel comfortable abt taking MC, but thanks to the fact that I've a very understanding boss...

I'm still down with flu and cough and I really hope I can be in the pink of health by tmr!

It's been for about two weeks that I didn't post anything on my blog, purely because there were some problems with my modem. Finally got my new modem today and just installed it not long ago.... Pretty easy to install and fuss free...

I think people are so used to technology and would feel uneasy without it. Well, I can't live without my hp, I felt so handicapped when I forgot to bring along my hp and I'll start to wonder 'what if i've got impt calls' or 'what if i didn't reply the sms on time', etc...

Well, that's the life of 'city people'.

今天中午听到MC过世的消息,我真的不敢也不愿相信这是真的.
当初他拍戏的时候,并没什么注意他,直到去年他客串和咏梅主持节目,
才开始觉得他是位很有才华的艺人. 他真的很棒,常常都能带给听众欢笑...

人的生命真的是可以非常短暂的...

Today's the first day of year 2008 and it's supposed to be a happy day for me, but I'm feeling kinda sad and lonely cuz these two nephews of mine are going back home --- yes, they've been staying with me since Nov school holidays.

I've been enjoying their company for the past one and half months and they really brought me tonnes of joy. Well, I know they're sad to go back too...

Well well, I think they'll get accustomed to it pretty soon, same for me too and I look forward to their next stay over at my place.

'Problematic' aircon

Hi Qin,
As per your request, I'm trying my best to demonstrate to you how to make use of the cable ties to solve the problem.

Step 1. Depending on your air con size, I'm currently using about 24pcs of 8 inch cable ties (12 pcs each) for my bro's air-con. But I guess it should be about the same.

Step 2 & 3. Hook up the cable ties at the end until you get a total of 12pcs. Place the pre-cut rubber mattress on top of your air-con and try to surround the aircon with the cable tie (as it's pretty long, it is not dangerous for me to do so even though the aircon is outside. I'm not sure for your air-con, if it's not long enough for you to do so, then try extend the length of your cable tie by adding a few more strips). Then fasten the rubber mattress as per Step 4 and it's done!

Repeat the same step so that there are two cable tie strips surrounding your air-con.

My brother has been complaining for years that he has difficulty falling asleep when it's raining heavily, 'all thanks' to his air-con unit that's causing the noise... He's tried various attempts to cover up his aircon with rubber mattress by using double-sided foam tape but to no avail cuz the tape will no longer be sticky when it comes in contact with heat...

I've finally come up with a way (that's cheap and easy by using cable tie) to solve his problem today! What an ingenious way to doing things, haha!

我在巴刹认识了一位老人家。。。他几乎天天都独自在外吃早餐及午餐。刚才有机会和他聊了一会儿，便问他为何天天都在外用餐，难道他没有孩子吗？

老人苦笑着，告诉我他有四名子女，不过他们都没和他一起住。。。后来又告诉我他的子女每年只探望他一次，那就是过年过节的时候。。。

我听了一阵心酸，老人的眼睛也泛着泪水。。。
